Unit 5: Back on Site – Learning Transfer and Audit

With guidance from Coombes HRM you will work with your own Learning and Development Manager to review how you are implementing your new skills over the two/ three weeks post programme.

Programme Objectives

  1. To facilitate the learners in identifying what the professional role and function of leadership looks like in the context of a management role as well as examining the importance of maintaining professionalism, supervisory management styles and reflective practice using a self-evaluation audit.
  2. To enable the learners to appraise the impact of different styles of leadership, team and motivational theory and the importance of good working relationships at all levels in the organisation and their own positive role within this.
  3. To learn about the main provisions of Legislation, such as Employment Legislation and European Union Directives
  4. To explore the impact that culture, attitudes, beliefs, perception, personality and values have on work practice such as, diversity issues and recruitment and develop a skill in supporting these issues positively.
  5. To enable the learners to address skills and motivation deficits amongst staff through strategies such as, skills audits, clear attainable goal setting, support for continuous professional development, managing under performers, team building exercises and enhancement of individuals self esteem
  6. To increase the learner’s awareness of using partnership approach to engagement with stakeholders such as professionals, networks and agencies that support the supervisory role to enable the timely and constructive resolution of problems through the exploration of different conflict management styles that can be used in different situation.
  7. To learn about utilising a range of appropriate communications and Interviewing styles and methods to provide management to staff and staff to management feedback in a culture that promotes engagement and hires successfully.
  8. To develop skills in effective delegation and acting as a conduit from staff to the upper management levels

  • People who may already have an alternative qualification but wish to gain a professional, accredited qualification in the subject matter.

Prerequisites

  • Leaving Cert or equivalent, and/or relevant Life or Work Experience.
  • People in continuous professional development
  • Must have the opportunity to implement the new skills at work
  • Currently or have in the past either formally or informally managing people

Assessment

This course is assessed through completion of a short project, a learner record and a short Assignment regarding topics that students have learnt about.

All work submitted must be your own work. There is no exam with this course.

As part of our quality assurance, student assessment work will be marked by an Internal Assessor, then checked by an Internal Verifier and an independent FETAC External Authenticator.

Progression to Further Studies

This course leads to a level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications.
Students who successfully complete this programme may use this Level 6 credit towards the FETAC/ QQI Advanced Certificate in Management programme (Ref. BMANX).
